BANGLADESH

BOOMING BANGLADESH

Picture
Waterways, endless tea plantations, many millennia of history, the Grameen bank, cricket, unforgettable traffic, captivating smiles  - and the home of mother tongue entitlement as a human right.  Bangladesh is a pearl waiting to be discovered ...
Picture
Renowned for its Bengal tigers, the majestic Sundarban mangrove forests and its unique life on the delta of one of the world's largest waterways, Bangladesh speaks to the imagination as well as to our sense of humanity.  This beautiful part of the world has seen more than its fair share of history, conflict and challenges, and it stands out for its people's persistence, optimism and gusto.  This is a land where everybody smiles, waves or shares a friendly word.  Visiting schools will discover a world they knew very little about yet that provides so much inspiration for others to follow - especially where it concerns the standard of living, the development of its human resource and its steadfastness on the path to increases prosperity.  A life-changing adventure indeed !

Highlights of a tour of this fascinating country include :
  • exploring bustling (and bursting) Dhaka, one of the world's most lively and fascinating cities
  • visiting the famous tea plantations around Srimangal
  • learning where our fine beverages come from and how they are processed
  • understanding the historical and cultural achievements of this relatively young nation
  • meeting young students and discovering their way of life
  • experiencing Dhaka's incomparable traffic and looking for ways to resolve some of its gridlock
  • admiring and understanding the environmental challenges
  • participating in some of the unique daily activities of the Bangali people (tea plantations, pottery etc.);
  • hiking in some of the world's largest tea plantations and natural forests - and finding that elusive monkey !
  • learning about Bangladesh's pottery crafts and learning how to make your own art piece
  • spending time in a school for street children and sharing games and activities with them
  • trying out Srimangal's famous 7-layer tea
  • assessing what we know, what we think we know and why we think we know it (or don't know it).
